Christmas 2007

Well, for Christmas 2007 we didn't travel out of state this year, but we did cover a few miles within the state. Emily took the train home from San Diego and Jesse drove up from Irvine. Rebekah came back from San Luis Obispo as she graduated earlier in the month. On Christmas Eve eve we drove up to Coarsegold (http://www.coarsegold.com/) to spend the night with Mom and Dad / Grandma and Grandpa (Ruth and Wally Nickles). The next morning we drove over to Reedley (http://www.reedley.com/) to spend Christmas Eve day with my aunt and uncle, Lou (Ruth's sister) and Jerry Olson.

Nothing like a white (out) Christmas with tule fog in the San Joaquin Valley.

...and Chachi.

A good ole country kitchen Christmas.

Cousins Keith and Brian Olson.
Brian barbecued tri-tip for us - Keith made sure it was suitable to eat.

The ladies: Leesi, Ruth, Rebekah, Emily, Trish, Paige and Becky.

Chachi imitating Jesse.

The sisters: Lou and Ruth.

Some of the young-uns: Koichi, Jesse, Emily, Rebekah, Becky, Taylor and Paige.

On Christmas Eve we left the country and headed back down to the big city. We tried to stop at our usual haunts, but both Starbucks and McDonald's were closed for the holiday. We headed across the street to In-n'-Out for a rest stop, then back on our way. We made it home in time to get the cookies and milk out - no, not for Santa! - then on to bed.

While Leesi was preparing some breakfast...

...Jesse and Koichi were brewing up some home-made egg nog.

Why bother with cookbooks when you can use your laptop?

Why do they have to make spice containers so small?

Rebekah assisting with separating the egg yolks.

Leesi had the dining table festive as usual.

We had so much left over, we invited more friends over for dinner on the 26th.
John, Val and Bill joined us for a reprise.

Thank you all for making Christmas 2007 a wonderful memory for the Nickles.
